My Story
From Nashville native to trusted CPA
Larry Williams grew up in Nashville, Tennessee, and has spent his entire career serving the community he calls home. After graduating from Maplewood High School, he attended Michigan State University on a National Merit Scholarship, earning a BA in Accounting and the Haskins & Sells award as one of the top graduates in his class.
He began his career with Touche Ross — now Deloitte — on the audit staff, before moving into tax and eventually becoming a Partner. Over the years that followed, he helped build one of Nashville’s largest tax practices, became a Certified Valuation Analyst, and led a business valuation practice that grew alongside his reputation.
In 2010, after a career that spanned two international accounting firms and a decade as a Tax Partner at Crowe, Larry established Larry Williams, CPA. Today he specializes in tax compliance, planning, and IRS representation for individuals and families, and continues to offer business valuation services to the Brentwood and Nashville community.

1965 – 1969
Michigan State University
Attended on a National Merit Scholarship. Graduated with a BA in Accounting and was co-recipient of the Haskins & Sells award for the top graduate in accounting.
Early Career
Touche Ross (now Deloitte)
Began on the audit staff in the Nashville office, later became Director of Tax Operations, then a Partner. Under his leadership, the Nashville tax practice became the largest in the office.
Solo Practice → Kruse & Associates
Certified Valuation Analyst
After several years of solo practice, reunited with former colleagues at Kruse & Associates in Brentwood, TN. Became a Certified Valuation Analyst and built a business valuation practice, while serving as Tax Partner. Over 10 years, the firm grew from 9 people to 120.
2003
Crowe Chizek (now Crowe)
Kruse & Associates merged with Crowe Chizek, and Larry became a Tax Partner with the combined firm.
2010 – Present
Larry Williams, CPA
Took early retirement from Crowe and established his own practice, specializing in tax compliance, planning, and IRS representation for individuals and families, along with business valuation services.
